This page outlines some simple safeguards which have been enacted in Malta to protect anyone wishing to dive.

Minimum age: Children under the age of 8 years may not use an Aqualung while those under 18 years require the written permission of a parent or guardian.

Medical Fitness: You can wave; sign off your own medical here at the dive centre. If you are over 45 yrs of age or have Asthma, diabetes or epilepsy you will need a doctor's certificate to make sure you are fit for diving, which could also be done here at the dive centre for only 25 euro.

All divers must be accompanied by a Malta Government registered instructor and you will be listed in all our dives. If you have a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Certification you can organise your own dives.

Organizing your own dives can be obtained by divers qualified to PADI Open Water with 10 logged dives (this is normally interpreted as being an Advanced Open Water Diver), a BSAC Sports Diver, a CMAS 2 star diver or equivalent. The applicant is also required to complete an application form and medical statement.

Please don't see any of the above as a hurdle to diving in Malta, this is just a small investment for a medical check up and to be reassured you are fit to dive.
